The midfielder started in the team under Vitor Pereira but quickly lost his place under Rob Edwards before being sent on loan to Paris FC.
Wolves were relegated with a whimper as the Premier League’s bottom side, but after picking up four points from the first two Championship games, Munetsi hopes to play a part in righting those wrongs.
“It’s definitely a new start,” he said.
“The supporters want to see us succeed and I think this is something that also gives us that extra motivation to actually work harder and make sure that we rectify the mistakes that we did last season.
“I think everybody, even the new manager, is well aware of that. The players, they’re well aware of that, so I think it allows us now to start on a clean slate.
“Whatever has happened in the past is in the past, but now it gives us a new stage to showcase what we can do and really fight for the wins and to make sure that people are happy again.”
Munetsi managed four goals and two assists in 16 matches for Paris FC during a successful loan spell, while he has since scored once in the Championship this season.
The 30-year-old believes that spell back in France has helped him to improve and reflect on where it went wrong at Wolves.
He added: “I think with the tough season we had here, not only me but all of us as a club, I think it was also good for me just to get a new environment, new fresh air, to look deeper into yourself and to see the things that you need to improve from the outside.
“I think the time away allowed me also to see myself and to see the things that I can improve.
“I managed to also go to a team that allowed me to do that and that allowed me to express myself.
“Experience is something that you learn. You can’t just be told what to do, but you also have to experience certain things.
“As a team, we have had to grind really deep into ourselves. Losing games is not always easy, but finding that motivation, that confidence again, that builds you up.
“Now I have nothing more to lose, I just have to express myself and make sure that I give this club everything that they’ve brought me to do here.”

Intrigued to see how Munetsi’s role plays out this season. He’s a machine up and down the pitch, and I don’t think it’s as simple as people think to just switch him out for Jordan James. He scored in Week 1, and his blocking stats alone from the Preston game show what he can bring to the team. Vítor was a tactical manager and leaned towards playing him most weeks too! 🐺
