Fer Lopez’s finish and Tawanda Chirewa’s winner either side of half-time earned Wolves a crucial three points after Jamie Vardy’s opener for the Clarets.
Following consecutive defeats to Middlesbrough and Bolton, it was vital Wolves got back on track, and Peixoto is delighted with his side’s resilience.
He said: “It’s an important three points. We needed that.
“I think in the first 20 minutes they were better than us. We didn’t understand well the way we had to press.
“I tried to talk with them during the first half. I think we finished the first half better than them. We pushed Burnley back.
“In half-time we corrected something. Three things in the defensive way, we explained to the team in the offensive way, where the space is, and how we have to manage Burnley.
“I think the players understood in the second half, and we were better. We scored two goals, but we can score more. I think we deserved the win.
“But for me it’s a victory for all of the team and the right mentality. The right mentality makes the difference today.”
For Chirewa, his first senior goal came at the perfect time as he netted just seconds after coming on as a second half substitute.
“I’m happy with him,” Peixoto added.
“He played all pre-season as a striker because we didn’t have Raul (Jimenez), who came later from the World Cup, and Adam (Armstrong) stayed injured in pre-season also.
“He worked a lot of times, and played a lot of games as a striker and in the training sessions also. He understands what we need from him at this moment of the game, and he scores. I’m happy with him.
“A lot of young players playing in the team is important. Like I said all the time, for me, age is just a number. It’s the focus, it’s the mentality, it’s the character, the quality. I have confidence in him.”
The 23-year-old has had to be patient for his opportunities due to Wolves’ large squad, but he took advantage of his chance with six senior players currently sidelined through injury.
“He is a young player who can play a lot of positions,” Peixoto said.
“He tries to learn. It’s important. He’s a player we’re going to need because of injuries, and he’s stayed ready.
“He scored for the national team also, and we know he understands our patterns.
“He’s a player with quality. We have to take time with him and try to give opportunities.
“He worked hard for the team, to defend, to secure the ball. He did well.”

Chirewa scored with a shot that went through the keepers hand. We’re also not stupid he is league 1 standard.
