Joao Virginia and Ghislain Konan made their debuts for the club, while Sean Neave got his first start, and that trio were among a handful of players who came in and impressed in the 1-0 defeat.
Peixoto was asked specifically about Virginia and the head coach was complimentary of the goalkeeper, but extended that to several players in the starting XI on Wednesday night.
“I’m happy for him but we know his quality and it’s because of that we brought Joao to our team,” Peixoto said.
“He has a lot of potential as a young player, it’s good for him to get minutes and play his first match.
“During 90 minutes he kept us in the game and I’m happy for him, but not just him, I think Sean did an amazing job, Tommy Doyle was good, Boubacar (Traore) was good. A lot of players played at a high level.
“For Konan it was his first game and he played well also.
“I’m happy with the effort of the players, the team stayed organised and played with the ball.
“I don’t like to talk about only one player because I think the team altogether stayed at a good level.”
Wolves were competitive throughout the game and only lost following an 80th minute finish.
The head coach was satisfied with the performance on Wednesday evening.
“I think we had a good game and competed against a Premier League team, a strong team,” Peixoto added.
“We made a lot of changes but the guys did a great job. Some players had space to show their qualities, character and personality.
“A lot of young players did a great job and the team stayed organised. When we were deeper we stayed organised and suffered together.
“I’m happy with the job we did, but not with the result.”
