Opinion: Cesar Peixoto vindicated in his decision to trust relegated Wolves players

Liam Keen has his say on the club’s change of direction in the summer and the head coach’s call to trust a number of last season’s players.

Towards the end of last season, head coach Rob Edwards made it very clear he had given up on many of his Wolves players.

The former Wolves defender was laying the foundations for a summer overhaul by publicly - and emotionally - criticising his squad.

One of his biggest outbursts came following the 3-0 defeat to Brighton on May 9, where Wolves conceded twice in the opening five minutes and put in a dreadful performance.

Edwards was incredibly angry in his post match press conference and targeted the players directly, as well as snapping at one journalist from a national newspaper that Edwards had not dealt with regularly in the Wolves job.

“We’re bottom of the league, it’s been embarrassing,” Edwards said.
