A disappointing 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough at the weekend was compounded by last night’s shocking 3-1 defeat at home to Bolton.
They now face a trip to Burnley on Friday, and despite his frustration at Tuesday’s result, Trippier is keen not to panic and ensure his teammates stay focused on the task at hand.
“I’ve played many years in the Championship before, and I’m one of the senior players in this group, so I know what it’s all about,” he said.
“We’re really disappointed, the supporters will be really disappointed as well, but we’re only nine/10 games into the season and there are still 36 games left.
“We don’t want to be getting beaten at home and we’re frustrated, we’re disappointed, because of the way we got back into the game and then controlled it, but ultimately, football is all about fine margins.
“There was a great save from their goalkeeper from Arma’s (Adam Armstrong) chance, and he pulled off a great save, and these are the fine margins which change games.
“We’ve got another game in a couple of days against Burnley, and it’ll be another tough match away from home, but the most important thing is that we stick together as a group.
“Football has its ups and downs, and I’ve been through this many times in my career, and that’s why, as one of the senior players, I need to help and guide my teammates, make sure nobody panics, and keep everyone positive around the place.”
These two defeats have put a dent in Wolves’ bid for promotion as they now sit nine points off leaders Swansea, with a game in hand.
“We know what we want to achieve this season, just like every other team does,” Trippier added.
“I’m one of the senior players and one of the oldest in the group, so it’s part of my role.
“Throughout the season you’re going to go through moments like this, every team in the Championship will, and it’s up to me and the other senior players to stand up, help our teammates, keep everyone calm and positive and I’ve been through situations like this many times in my career.
“We tried to get back into it and kept going, but we know we can do so much better.
“We know we’ve got to do better defensively, but we’re disappointed and frustrated.
“That said, it’s still early in the season, and we’ve got another game in a couple of days.”
