Raul Jimenez stepped off the bench to net a 90th minute winner at Bramall Lane to get Wolves back to winning ways in the Championship.
The performance was less than convincing, but the head coach was delighted with the spirit his team showed.
He said: “I talked with the players (after the Birmingham draw). Today, we have to manage the moments of the game better, and I think we learned from the last game.
“We managed better. Today, we stayed more compact to try to win the first and the second balls, because it’s difficult for us sometimes.
“Today, we have a team. Not only the starting XI, but a team.
“The players come from the bench. The same direction, the same effort. Improve the team, fight until the end. They believe until the end that we’re going to score.
“We scored and I think we deserve. We showed a soul. Today, I see the soul, the big soul the team has.
“But not only today. We have to be consistent in this kind of behaviour inside the group. Because in the Championship, only quality is not enough.
“I think we need that soul also to manage this kind of game and win this kind of game, because it’s very difficult.”
Three substitutes combined for the winning moment as Kieran Trippier crossed before Tommy Doyle’s skewed effort found Jimenez unmarked at the back post.
Peixoto added: “The win is very, very important for the confidence of the players. For sure, we played three or four games in a row away.
“We lost against West Ham, we did not do the best second half against Birmingham but we didn’t lose and that is very important.
“We didn’t lose two times in a row and today we won again, it’s important.
“The team wants to fight for promotion to the Premier League. It’s important to take points away.
“But today, I don’t look only for the points. I look to the soul of the team during 90 minutes to win the game. To believe in the team, the effort of the players, to win the game, a difficult game.
“It’s a good win for us.”
Wolves now face Everton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday before a huge Black Country derby against West Brom on Sunday at Molineux.
“I think it’s a very important result for us,” Peixoto said.
“Important win away. Difficult stadium to play.
“The team, when they have the capacity to play, plays our game. And when they have to fight each other, fight together. The first ball, the second ball.
“In the last game, we had more difficulty. We managed this situation better and we stayed together until the end and we scored.
“I think we deserved the win. We created more and more chances. We can score more, but an important win.
“The way we play as a team. The players, who came from the bench, amazing to help the team.
“For 10 minutes in the second half we had more instability and the players came from the bench, understood what I needed from the team to improve the team in this moment.
“Raul, Tommy, Trippier, Totti, JJ, did an amazing job to improve the team to stay competitive during the 90 minutes. We scored and we deserved the win.”

Welcome to the Chump rollercoaster! Lose, draw, win in last 3 games. Need to win when you play well, grind out results when not playing so well. A long season ahead. But hopefully a positive outcome.
As regards a deserved win,? Maybe only in the fact that they were very defensive against us but there was very little quality and i cannot remember their keeper having to make many saves? Will take the points but we will have to play much better lets see next week!!
