The most concerning part of this performance is that, despite dominating possession after the substitutions, we still couldn’t create a clear-cut chance to get back into the game.
The lack of a genuine centre-forward who can hold the ball up, bring others into play and consistently score goals is becoming painfully obvious. We have no real focal point in attack, and the failure to properly strengthen during the summer transfer window is now coming home to roost.
You can change the formation, make substitutions and criticise individual players, but if you haven’t got the quality in the final third, you’re always going to struggle.
The responsibility doesn’t just lie with the players or Peixoto. It goes much higher up. The club knew where the weaknesses were, yet failed to address them adequately. We’re now seeing the consequences of that lack of ambition and investment.
Wolves fans deserve better. We shouldn’t be talking about simply competing in Championship games; we should have assembled a squad capable of challenging for an immediate return to the Premier League. Right now, that looks a long way off.
I am hoping that the injuries really are relatively trivial and short in duration. They are beginning to stack up and the squad is beginning to look thin in front of goal. Losing Gomes meant feeding Lopez was always going to be hard.
The curse of the international break strikes again.
Looked totally different when we brought the subs on

Well deserved. We were very poor.

Players like Mane, munestsi, Armstrong have been diabolical. How mane and Armstrong play week after week, I don’t know!
